Founded in 2023 by Dr. Kimberly Carr, Turnpike Equine began as a predominantly ambulatory veterinary practice dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized care where horses live and work. From the beginning, our focus has been on building lasting relationships with horse owners and providing comprehensive care tailored to each horse’s individual needs.

In 2025, we were able to expand our practice by purchasing Black Top Ranch in Bixby, OK. The ranch now serves as our home base, providing a convenient location for haul-in appointments as well as a place for horses requiring longer-term care. Our facility also allows us to offer boarding for reproductive services, giving mares the monitoring and specialized care they need throughout the breeding and pregnancy process.

Today, Turnpike Equine combines the convenience of ambulatory care with the resources of a dedicated equine facility. We are proud to provide compassionate, comprehensive veterinary care throughout every stage of your horse’s life—from routine wellness and performance care to reproduction and long-term management.
